    –  Badges Available For Purchase Now / Individual Shows On Sale This Friday
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (October 24, 2017) – Noise Pop Festival, the Bay Area’s premiere indie music and arts festival, is excited to announce phase one of the music lineup for the 26th annual festival. Early Bird and Super Fan badges go on sale today, Tuesday, October 24 at 10 a.m. PT, although fans are encouraged to act fast as supply is limited and pricing will increase in tiers. Individual tickets to these recently announced shows will also go on sale at 10 a.m. PT this Friday, October 27. Both badges and tickets can be purchased at www.noisepopfest.com.
Noise Pop Festival is an annual celebration of independent culture in the Bay Area, which over the course of a week, from Monday, February 19 to Sunday, February 25, transforms the Bay Area into festival grounds with multiple events taking place across the city each night. This year badges will go further than ever before as access to the film screening events, which had required a separate badge or tickets previously, will be included with the overall Noise Pop badge, allowing attendees to pack in even more into their festival experience.
The first round of music artists confirmed to perform at the festival includes the female-led, live drum-looping indie-pop project, Tune-Yards, fronted by former Sunglass Theater puppeteer-turned-vocalist Merrill Garbus; New Jersey’s Real Estate, who will be performing in support of their recent album, In Mind; San Francisco’s own Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, who in September released the first single off of their highly anticipated upcoming album, Wrong Creatures, a return to the band’s original style of buzzing guitars and faded vocals; Texas-by-way-of-New York’s Parquet Courts, who also played to a sold-out crowd at Noise Pop 2016; and indie-pop inspired San Fermin, led by classically trained and appropriately named composer Ellis Ludwig-Leone, which just released their third album, Belong, to critical praise, and who will perform alongside another beloved Bay Area acts in The Magik*Magik Orchestra for a very rare collaborative performance.
Also joining the music with a strong dose of 90s indie rock revival is Superchunk, who helped shape the East Coast homegrown music scene of their native North Carolina; in addition to renowned acts like quirky California natives WHY?, who will perform in support of their critically acclaimed 2017 album, Moh Lhean, at Noise Pop 2018; Ben UFO, an accomplished DJ known for his work in cofounding the heralded electronic record label, Hessle Audio; experimental rocker Mount Eerie, who looks to perform in support of his eighth studio album, A Crow Looked At Me, that was released this past March; Geographer, the critically acclaimed indie rock project from San Francisco native Mike Deni; Bully, who managed to avoid the stereotypical ‘slump of the sophomore album’ with Losing, which was just released this month to acclaim from fans and critics alike; and Los Angeles-based Girlpool, who for the first time incorporated a drummer on their newest album, Powerplant, which was released in May to glowing reviews. Rounding out the first wave of announced music performances is Melbourne-born songwriter and electronic producer Carla Dal Forno, marking her first ever performance in the United States; among more than 40 total music acts.
Although the full music lineup will be announced in several phases between now and February, the list of initial music acts confirmed to perform at the 2018 festival can be found below.

For the 2017 festival, a limited amount of Early Bird badges are available for purchase today for $145. This year, the festival is introducing a new tiered pricing structure for general badges that will reward those who buy early. Prices will increase as each phase of the lineup is revealed.  Phase 1 general badges will be available for $175 once Early Bird badges are sold out. General badge prices will then go up with the Phase 2 lineup announcement.
All badges grant access to all general admission (non-seated) music concerts, badge-only happy hours, NPHQ and some very special events soon to be announced. Badges are non-transferrable with age-restrictions for some events, and badge-holders must arrive within 60 minutes after club door times to guarantee entrance. New benefits for badge-holders this year includes additional access to all of the film screenings and film-related events throughout the weeklong festival.
In addition, a limited number of Super Fan badges will also go on sale Tuesday, October 24 at 10 a.m. PT for $399 and will not be raised. Super Fan badge-holders will experience the true red carpet treatment at the festival, where they receive guaranteed entry to all festival events, a special merch package, complimentary drink tickets to select events, and a personal Noise Pop concierge available for assistance throughout the weeklong festival. For any badge related questions, contact Noise Pop directly at badge@noisepop.com.
Tickets to all individual festival performances currently announced will go on sale this Friday, October 27 at 10 a.m. PT. Brand new for Noise Pop Festival badge-holders, fans will now have the option of a specialized waitlist-service for sold-out shows in case they were unable to purchase tickets in time.
Additionally, Noise Pop Festival is proud to announce that world-renown artist ChiChiLand will create the official artwork for this year’s festival. Çiğdem “Chi” Michalski is an illustrator, artist and occasional art director in Seattle, who for the past decade was half of the creative duo running Istanbul’s beloved motion design studio – imago. Today, she focuses on art and illustration while continuing to create work in the field of animation and design. Noise Pop is thrilled to add her to the impressive list of notable artists who have partnered to create art for the fest, including Shepard Fairey and Thomas Campbell, among others.
Last year at the 25th annual event, Noise Pop Festival saw its highest attendance yet in the festival’s history with nearly 90% of the acts playing to sold-out crowds and all festival badges selling out in advance. In total, over 28,000 people attended the 2017 festival, which marked a more than 30% increase in attendance from the year prior in 2016, which again was a hallmark year for the annual festival. The 2017 festival played host to 180+ music artists across more than 17 Bay Area venues, with additional events including concerts, film screenings, art shows and more.
The lineup for the 25th anniversary last year again carried on the festival’s musical expansion by including genres of all types including hip-hop, indie rock, electronic, metal, and more. Among the artists with stellar sold-out performances were Ty Segall, Grandaddy, Vince Staples, Dawes, Julien Baker, BadBadNotGood, Deafheaven, Tash Sultana, PWR BTTM, Rogue Wave (presented Cover Me: A Night of 80s Classics), and Creeper Lagoon (who performed together on stage for the first time since 2001). Additional favorite highlights of the festival included sets by Japanese Breakfast, Diet Cig, Hazel English, Middle Kids, Hanni El Khatib, and many more. The 2017 festival also welcomed the return of the Noise Pop After Hours at Café du Nord presented by Jameson Music, where the celebration continued multiple nights of the festival with surprise sets from several beloved Bay Area acts, including Thao (of Thao & The Get Down Stay Down), Jay Som, and Con Brio, playing to a packed venue.
Stay tuned as additional music acts, as well as the film, art and event lineup will be announced in the months ahead.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s new track, Haunt, off their upcoming album, Wrong Creatures, is available now as an instant download when you pre-order the album! http://smarturl.it/BRMC-WrongCreatures

    Haunt

    Take yourself apart from me
    Down into a flame
    You’re everything one could keep
    You’re worn with every face

Rapping like a scarecrow’s wings, you unwind
I’m thrown to a seamless wave,
And it’s written on a sea of love
And It’s all I can leave you babe
‘Cos the world was never yours
I just keep playing that restless haunt
    Nothing I can change

Swallow what’s still brave in you
    Like metal in your jaw
    Trying not to melt away
    Beginning to unthaw

Dead flag, ship of fools you command
I’m trying not to wither away
And I’m wondering if I’ll feel the grace
I’m trying to unlove this world
But it has no other place
I just keep playing that empty hand
    Nothing I can cheat

    Can you touch
    Can you stay
Would you weep, for the day
You knew when your eyes closed
But you knew when your eyes closed
    Can you want
    Can you stay
    Would you reach, around me

    Light another melody
    And drown into the sound
    I’ve buried every living thing
    Deeper than the ground

Where I Wait feat. Dave Gahan (Aristókrasía Version)

Cryosleep is the debut album from Null + Void, the alias of prolific New York producer Kurt Uenala. It’s an album of contrasts and tension, where darkness is pierced by blinding light, and where moody new wave bleeds into stark electronics. In one moment, joyful memories give way to isolation and regret, and in the next, Cryosleep explores the catharsis of crowded dancefloors.

Throughout the record, Uenala matches his dynamic production with incredible vocalists—from Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan and the inimitable Shannon Funchess, to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Big Pink. Null + Void’s take on dark pop meshes with his love for Detroit electro, poignant synth melodies, and cold atmospheres.

With the cinematic opener “Falling Down” and brooding instrumentals like “Come To Me”, Cryosleep can feel like the soundtrack to a lost space epic. No doubt, the album evokes Blade Runner, dystopian landscapes, and the splendor of far-off galaxies. As Uenala puts it, Cryosleep is inspired by “classic sci-fi stuff,” images of futuristic machines sustaining humans frozen in a dreamstate.

The melancholy “Foreverness” explores what they might be thinking: “A collection of fragments, memories of a life lived—preserved, but incomplete and jumbled.” Meanwhile, “Into The Void” paints a peaceful, otherworldly picture, “like soaring towards a white light.”

Lead single “Asphalt Kiss” sounds like a frenzied chase scene through rain-slick streets, while the upbeat “Paragon” zips like a bullet train over lush, alien scenery. But for all of its widescreen beauty and world-building, Null + Void’s debut album also thrives on emotional songwriting and stylish versatility.

Uenala dips his beloved old-school genres in chrome, giving them a contemporary, high-gloss sheen. Dave Gahan’s singular voice brings a classic edge to “Where I Wait,” a stunning song about hope and uncertainty.

“I wrote it with Dave in mind,” Uenala says of his frequent collaborator. “He wrote the melody and lyrics soon after he was sick, which I think influenced the reflective tone.” The song, which also features Sharin Foo of The Raveonettes, shines among Cryosleep ‘s unforgettable pop excursions, alongside the quietly catchy “Take It Easy” and the harrowing “Hands Bound”.

Uenala envisioned the “larger than life” voice of Shannon Funchess amidst frantic beats and gothic bells, and she brings undeniable power to “Hands Bound”. In awe of her presence, the producer says, “Shannon sings her lyrics about dominance and control with scary conviction.”

The title Cryosleep perfectly accentuates what Null + Void expresses throughout his first record. “It’s about the desire to keep loved ones alive beyond their lifespan,” he explains, alluding to the personal life experiences that color this music. “And if you tapped into that frozen person and scanned their last thoughts, their final farewell, this is what might come out.”

To experience Cryosleep is to enter the many worlds of the subconscious, vibrant realms of hidden shadows, lost memories, and the mesmerizing unknown.
