  • BRMC ‘Wrong Creatures’ Vinyl Boxset

    BRMC ‘Wrong Creatures’ Vinyl Boxset

About a week ago, BRMC announced the availability of the BRMC ‘Wrong Creatures’ Vinyl Boxset!

We’re happy to announce that after nearly half a year of work/designing the special edition vinyl, pre-orders are finally ready for the BRMC ‘Wrong Creatures’ Vinyl Boxset. The box comes with a 52 page lyric/photo book, alternative front cover, custom harmonica, 2 clear vinyl LP’s, exclusive art prints, and the Black Tape EP (featuring 3 unreleased new songs).

A lot of love and a little madness went into this, and admittedly the materials do take time to put together so we hope the extra wait is worth it.

-Also very big thanks to Brian Lauzon and everyone down at Cobraside Vinyl

    KING OF BONES

Another hand on your heart, with borrowed time
Your skin was cold, your soul was ice
You only want what you tangle, inside your bones
Your head will blow, like a cannonball

How can you break if you got no bones
How can you wag if you got no dog

But all you want you just feel, no world outside
Stay in my bones, stay til you like
We’re only plastic toys, break down to size
Stay with my bones, stay til you like

How can you break if you got no bones
How can you wag if you got no dog
I don’t wanna waste my life,
    til the tables turn

Gonna skin it on down, to the ground
You’re gonna skin it all down, to the ground
You’re gonna skin it all down, to the ground
You’re gonna skin it all down, to the ground

    QUESTION OF FAITH

    I’m a question of faith
    I’m a faded mind
    I’m what calls you away
I’m what leaves you in time

    I’m a shattered heart
    I’m the buried knife
    I’m the calling rage
    I’m the world at night

I’ll give you what you want if you promise you’ll keep walking away
I’ll give you what you want, keep walking away

Your eyes, your eyes, your eyes
You’re never gonna know, your own, your own,
What leads you in the nights, just a question of right
Your mind, your mind, your mind
You’re never gonna know, your own, your own
What leads you in the nights, just a question of right
    As you question your own

    I’m a question of faith
    In a shattered mind
    I’m what calls you away
    To the world on fire

I’ll give you what you want if you promise you’ll keep walking away

Your eyes, your eyes, your eyes
You’re never gonna know, your own, your own,
What leads you in the nights, just a question of right
    (As you question your own)
Your mind, your mind, your mind
You’re never gonna know, your own, your own
What leads you in the nights, just a question of right
    As you question your own

Your eyes, your eyes, your eyes
You’re never gonna know, your own, your own,
What leads you in the nights, just a question of right
    As you question your own
Your mind, your mind, your mind
You’re never gonna know, your own, your own
What leads you in the nights, just a question of right
    As you question your own
Your mind, your mind, your mind
You’re never gonna know, your own, your own
What leads you in the nights, just a question of right
    As you question your own

“Haunt” debut + Robert Levon Been on Facebook Live

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s new track, Haunt, off their upcoming album, Wrong Creatures, is available now as an instant download when you pre-order the album! http://smarturl.it/BRMC-WrongCreatures

    Haunt

    Take yourself apart from me
    Down into a flame
    You’re everything one could keep
    You’re worn with every face

Rapping like a scarecrow’s wings, you unwind
I’m thrown to a seamless wave,
And it’s written on a sea of love
And It’s all I can leave you babe
‘Cos the world was never yours
I just keep playing that restless haunt
    Nothing I can change

Swallow what’s still brave in you
    Like metal in your jaw
    Trying not to melt away
    Beginning to unthaw

Dead flag, ship of fools you command
I’m trying not to wither away
And I’m wondering if I’ll feel the grace
I’m trying to unlove this world
But it has no other place
I just keep playing that empty hand
    Nothing I can cheat

    Can you touch
    Can you stay
Would you weep, for the day
You knew when your eyes closed
But you knew when your eyes closed
    Can you want
    Can you stay
    Would you reach, around me

    Light another melody
    And drown into the sound
    I’ve buried every living thing
    Deeper than the ground

Cryosleep is the debut album from Null + Void, the alias of prolific New York producer Kurt Uenala. It’s an album of contrasts and tension, where darkness is pierced by blinding light, and where moody new wave bleeds into stark electronics. In one moment, joyful memories give way to isolation and regret, and in the next, Cryosleep explores the catharsis of crowded dancefloors.

Throughout the record, Uenala matches his dynamic production with incredible vocalists—from Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan and the inimitable Shannon Funchess, to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Big Pink. Null + Void’s take on dark pop meshes with his love for Detroit electro, poignant synth melodies, and cold atmospheres.

With the cinematic opener “Falling Down” and brooding instrumentals like “Come To Me”, Cryosleep can feel like the soundtrack to a lost space epic. No doubt, the album evokes Blade Runner, dystopian landscapes, and the splendor of far-off galaxies. As Uenala puts it, Cryosleep is inspired by “classic sci-fi stuff,” images of futuristic machines sustaining humans frozen in a dreamstate.

The melancholy “Foreverness” explores what they might be thinking: “A collection of fragments, memories of a life lived—preserved, but incomplete and jumbled.” Meanwhile, “Into The Void” paints a peaceful, otherworldly picture, “like soaring towards a white light.”

Lead single “Asphalt Kiss” sounds like a frenzied chase scene through rain-slick streets, while the upbeat “Paragon” zips like a bullet train over lush, alien scenery. But for all of its widescreen beauty and world-building, Null + Void’s debut album also thrives on emotional songwriting and stylish versatility.

Uenala dips his beloved old-school genres in chrome, giving them a contemporary, high-gloss sheen. Dave Gahan’s singular voice brings a classic edge to “Where I Wait,” a stunning song about hope and uncertainty.

“I wrote it with Dave in mind,” Uenala says of his frequent collaborator. “He wrote the melody and lyrics soon after he was sick, which I think influenced the reflective tone.” The song, which also features Sharin Foo of The Raveonettes, shines among Cryosleep ‘s unforgettable pop excursions, alongside the quietly catchy “Take It Easy” and the harrowing “Hands Bound”.

Uenala envisioned the “larger than life” voice of Shannon Funchess amidst frantic beats and gothic bells, and she brings undeniable power to “Hands Bound”. In awe of her presence, the producer says, “Shannon sings her lyrics about dominance and control with scary conviction.”

The title Cryosleep perfectly accentuates what Null + Void expresses throughout his first record. “It’s about the desire to keep loved ones alive beyond their lifespan,” he explains, alluding to the personal life experiences that color this music. “And if you tapped into that frozen person and scanned their last thoughts, their final farewell, this is what might come out.”

To experience Cryosleep is to enter the many worlds of the subconscious, vibrant realms of hidden shadows, lost memories, and the mesmerizing unknown.
